Farmers received wheat seeds from LOHCEVUCOD in partnership with NARI, launching a climate-smart agriculture initiative to promote food security and livelihoods in Nkum.
LOHCEVUCOD, in partnership with NARI (Nso Agricultural Renaissance Initiative), launched a wheat farming initiative for the 2026 session in Nkum Subdivision. Through the Nkum Farmers Union (NFU), local farmers received wheat seeds and training to begin cultivation — a significant step toward diversifying crops and strengthening food security in the region.
Seed distribution & farmer support
Farmers across Nkum received wheat seed packages and guidance on planting and field management. Distribution events brought together families and community members, ensuring that beneficiaries had the inputs needed to start their plots.
The program runs from September 4th to 15th, 2026, with cultivation already underway in several fields across the subdivision.
Training & methodology
NFU farmers were trained by LOHCEVUCOD on wheat farming best practices, with an emphasis on climate-smart and organic approaches that protect soil health and improve long-term yields.
- Climate-smart and organic farming practices
- Field preparation and seed planting techniques
- Crop monitoring and community-based support
- Partnership between LOHCEVUCOD, NARI, and NFU for sustained impact
Looking ahead
As cultivation progresses, LOHCEVUCOD remains committed to supporting NFU farmers through the full growing cycle. This project reflects our broader goal of advancing economic empowerment and community resilience — helping rural households build sustainable livelihoods while contributing to national food security.
